Nvidia calls on gamers to donate their GPU’s to science and use their tech to fight COVID-19. Will you do the same?

Folding@Home

Conducting research on diseases these days is not just about testing in laboratories. Computer calculations and simulations play a key role and there is a way for you to help.

Folding@Home is a project where volunteers around the world can donate idle resources of their computer hardware to do calculations and simulations. This is called a distributed computing project.

By focussing on simulations of proteins, Folding@Home decided to also focus on the dynamics of coronavirus proteins to help design a cure. You can read more here.

How to Use Your Tech to Fight COVID-19

Nvidia called gamers to help the fight against COVID-19 by making their idle resources available to researchers.

You can join the movement by going to Folding@Home’s website and downloading the installer which is available for Mac, Windows and Linux.

The website also explains how you can regain the resources if you need them or want to take a break from life and play some games.

Let’s come together and use our tech to fight COVID-19 and help the world recover from this unfortunate event.

At this stage, any type of help lend to the scientists will help them develop a way to fight the symptoms and/or the virus or even come up with a vaccine or cure. Let me know in the comments what you think of the shared computer project and if you are going to be a part of it.
