We’ve seen (PRODUCT)RED in a big portion of Apple’s small portable devices, but not in Apple’s “most personal device” they’ve “ever created”. These RED products include iPhone, iPad, covers for both, Watch Bands, iPod and some Beats products. It’s about time the Watch also goes RED.

Background

Apple is part of an initiative to help the fight against HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. All money made from (PRODUCT)RED goes into this initiative.

(PRODUCT)RED Apple Watch

The rumour started when reference numbers for Apple Watches were discovered and speedily removed.

WatchGeneration speculates the aluminium Series 5 will be the lucky contender to receive the facelift. They also suspect the price would be the same as the other aluminium versions and the colour will be close to the colour used for the RED iPod.

Have a look at the comment on 9to5Mac’s Tweet. The top picture is from WatchGeneration’s site.

When is it expected?

It’s way too early for a complete overhaul of the Apple Watch, due to the fact that the Series 5 was only launched in September 2019.

April would be a good time for Apple to lift sales and secure their position in the wearables market. We have seen some upgrades to line ups in April in the past.

Closing

Could a PRODUCT(RED) Apple Watch be born within the next few months? We’ll have to wait and see.
