Radeon released their RX 5600 XT, a snug fit between the RX 5600- and the RX 5700-series. This card is allegedly the perfect upgrade for gamers gaming in 1080p.
Specs
The part all of us goes to first, specs, and the RX 5600 XT doesn’t disappoint. With a base clock running at 1,235MHz, game clock at 1,375MHz and a boost clock at 1,560MHz, you can expect great performance.
Memory wise, we are looking at 6GB GDDR6 at 12Gbps with a 192-bit memory bus and a memory bandwidth of 288GBps.
Comparison and Performance
The RX 5600 XT outperforms Nvidia’s GTX 1060 by a large margin. With the GTX 1060 struggling to reach 60fps at 1080p with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare played with ultra quality settings, the RX 5600 XT is able to handle 92fps with the same settings.
Same goes for games like Gears of War 5, The Division and The Witcher 3. Nvidia’s GTX 1060 struggles to get to 60fps whereas the Radeon gets up to 90fps.
The card is not meant for 4K gaming, but AMD promises an “ultimate 1080p” gaming experience and is highly recommended for gamers who play at this resolution.
Price
The current price for the RX 5600 XT stands at $279 which is R3,954.18 (excluding import and other taxes). I suspect the card will be in the range of R4,750 – R5,000.
Availability
On the 21st of January 2020, a large number of manufacturers, including ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and more, will release their version of the RX 5600 XT to the world.
Closing
Will Nvidia fight back with an upgrade to its GTX 1060 range? Let’s wait and see.
